Statement Lead: the perfect synth for the modern producer and songwriter in the EDM, drum and bass, and house genres. It comes with high-quality built-in effects – Drive, Reverb, Delay, Multiband Compression, and Spatialization – that give you precise control, making it easy to fine tune, create spaces, add clarity, and further sculpt your lead sounds.

For example, the sophisticated Delay and Reverb effects are adapted for synthesiser sounds and feature synched pre-delay and ducking on the reverb, 8 individual L & R taps, and ducking on the delay. The Multiband Compressor is a smart one-knob solution that’s been thoroughly tweaked to give you as much control as possible with as few knobs as possible.

Improving feel and workflow, and making the best of hardware and software available in one place, Console 1 Fader allows you to raise the sound quality bar to new heights. Mixing a masterpiece isn’t easy, but with Console 1 Fader there’s no limit to what you can do.

Ten touch-sensitive 100 mm Alps motorized faders give premium professional feel and feedback, while the weighty powder-coated steel chassis means durability and substance in a sleek Scandinavian design.

Fader includes two console emulations (Tube and Discrete). Way more than a simple controller, Fader enriches the sound of your tracks in the same ways as a true analog console.

Riding faders is muscle memory for many mix engineers. For those of us who play the desk like an instrument, Console 1 Fader gives quick and intuitive control over volume, saturation, filtering, and much more.

Console 1

The Console 1 mixing ecosystem is so much more than a simple DAW/plug-in controller. It’s an efficient, elegant, and amazing-sounding modern mixing solution, combining hardware and software to give you the best of both worlds: the versatility, affordability, and usability of in-the-box mixing, alongside the workflow, feel, and focus dedicated hardware can bring.

Console 1 Fader can be used alone, or in combination with the original Console 1 channel strip controller for a tight ‘complete desk’ experience. You can even use multiple Console 1 Fader units to build the ideal workflow for your specific studio.

There are many ways to mix a masterpiece, but riding faders is a matter of muscle memory for a lot of us. And for good reason – reaching out and grabbing five or ten different sounds or groups at once, and quickly adjusting, listening, adjusting, listening, balancing… it’s a full-body discipline, and software alone can’t come close.

Tapping into the same purpose-designed software environment as the original Console 1 channel strip controller, Fader brings new levels of control over the wider world of your mix. You can ride up to ten channels at once, working volume, high-and-low-cut filter values, drive and drive character (modelled desk saturation), and more. Then page up for ten more channels. And ten more, until you have easy access to your whole mix, even when tracks number into the hundreds.

Because all the audio signal processing happens in our award-winning component-modelled software, you can switch out the ‘circuitry’ of your console instantaneously for a different desk sound across your whole project, or even channel by channel.

In addition to the two analog console sounds Fader ships with, you can purchase any of our Console 1 channel strips and use those classic desk sounds with Fader.

Features:

Fader modes

Fader allows you to quickly and intuitively control track volume, drive level, drive character, input gain, low cut, high cut, and up to three send levels, all from the same high quality motorized faders.

Transport controls

The three assignable buttons work by default as basic transport controls for the major DAWs, but each can be assigned to a key-command of your choice (e.g. CTRL+Z) [you know us to well -Ed], for whatever use you can imagine.

Encoder

Mounted on a high-grade all-metal potentiometer, Console 1 Fader’s single encoder offers control of pan per track, but also unlocks a powerful stereo spatialisation tool, to widen or consolidate your individual tracks, situating each sound perfectly in your mix.

Layer mode

With our innovative new ‘Layer Mode’ you can create layers of tracks, putting many levels of mixing at your fingertips. Low cut all your guitars at once, or saturate your groups early on for a top-down effect in seconds.

Softube’s Console 1 hardware/software plug-in control system has been given a software update that adds support for selected UAD Powered Plug-ins. The update is available for free if you own the first-generation Console 1 system as of February 16. Console 1 lets you quickly switch between tracks and control EQ, compressor, gate, and more, mixing with the sound of the included Console 1 SSL SL 4000 E emulation developed in collaboration with SSL. Now, thanks to the software update, you can also customise the channels to fit your needs with over 60 Console 1 system-ready plug-ins available from Softube and Universal Audio, adding brands like Chandler Limited, Fairchild, and Helios to the range of products that can be used with Console 1 systems — all pre-mapped and easily selectable from the Console 1 software, so no MIDI mapping is necessary.

Needless to say, Greg Westall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Universal Audio appears delighted with his company’s developmental proceedings: “Softube and Universal Audio share a lot of core values, like the importance of sound quality, ease of use, and a love for good music. Seeing that Universal Audio and Softube are longtime partners, and that Console 1 is a super-intuitive control surface, it all just makes so much sense.”

Softube President Oscar Öberg: “The concept of Console 1 has been extremely popular, and we haven’t been able to keep up with the demand. I’m excited that we finally are able to manufacture larger quantities of a Console 1 that’s not only better but also a lot more affordable.”

Softube announces version 2.3.76 of its plug-in installer with a fix for Windows 10 users and a long line of minor bug fixes. Best of all, two new utility modules are available free of charge to existing and future Modular owners.

Dual X-Fade is a two-channel, CV-controllable crossfade module that blends two separate mono signals to create new textures. For example, patch in two different waveforms from an oscillator — such as sine or saw — and use the blend knob to set the level between the two signals. You can also morph seamlessly between them by manually adjusting the blend knob while the song is playing or control the knob with an LFO via CV.

Dual Pan lets you place one or two mono signals anywhere in the stereo mix panorama, e.g. two percussive sounds that the user wants to separate in the stereo image. The 1+2 outputs can be used for a stereo sum of the two L and two R outputs. Dual Pan can also be used as an A/B switch to send a CV or audio signal to two different inputs.

Modular owners can simply download the new installer from http://softu.be/get_installer, run it, and the new modules will be available in the Module Selector window.

With IK’s Lurssen Mastering plug-in recently released, it seems it’s the season for nifty little mastering plug-ins. Softube has recently introduced the Drawmer S73 intelligent master processor. The plug-in is based on technology created by Drawmer for the 1973 three-band FET stereo analogue multi-band compressor. In addition to modelling the unit’s characteristics, Softube has added mastering sound design to create the S73 IMP plug-in. We know multi-band compressors are awesome when used correctly, which often they’re not, resulting in severely messed up mixes. The Drawmer S73 plug-in features some built-in ‘intelligence’ to help you out. According to Softube, the S73 “does most of the job for you by making the choices a mastering engineer would make.” Your task is easy — wind up the ‘Amount’ knob to dial in your desired gain reduction amount, and use the ‘Style’ parameter to switch between ready-made mastering processing techniques to uncover the sound that best suits your mic.
