Loudspeaker technology has developed at a rapid pace over the last couple of decades. Dispersion has become incredibly precise and predictable. Coverage across the sound field has become smoother and more uniform. Throw distances have increased and box sizes have decreased. 

In many respects, a compact loudspeaker like the dBTechnologies VIO X206 is a result of these types of developments. Gone are the days where small size means small performance. The X206 is indeed compact (65cm x 27cm x 21cm) and fairly lightweight at 17.3kg. The cabinet houses two 6.5-inch transducers and a 1-inch compression driver. Like most dBTechnologies products, it’s self-powered with a built-in 900W RMS Class-D Digipro G3 amplifier for a maximum SPL of 131dB and a commendably broad frequency response of 66Hz–19.5kHz (-10dB). 

But aside from its impressive performance specs, the VIO X206 has a nifty trick up its sleeve. Its standard 60° x 90° horn can be swapped out for a 100° x 15° waveguide, instantly transforming it from a point source box for small to medium gigs into an array-able cabinet ready for larger scale applications. This makes the X206 uncommonly versatile and thus an attractive option for those needing adaptability.

ARRAY OF OPTIONS

Take one look at the X206 and you can see how it presents itself as an ideal point source loudspeaker for a variety of smaller sound reinforcement applications. The slim form factor makes for neat and discreet wall or pole mounting in spaces anywhere from pubs and restaurants to churches and function rooms. Horizontal and vertical brackets for the X206 are available from dBTechnologies to suit a venue’s needs, including pole mounting, wall mounting, and truss mounting. For portable use, the X206 needs an adaptor to fit a regular speaker stand.

dBTechnologies has enhanced the X206’s functionality with Ease Focus predictive software and Aurora Net control and monitoring software. Connect via the RDNet protocol using the Data In etherCON port on the back of the X206, and use Data Out to daisy chain with extra modules in a line array configuration. The software is an exception value-add which lets you get the most out of a pair or group of X206s – 32-bit DSP processing allows for accurate delays, phase visualisations, EQ curves, and so on – without moving from the FOH position.

Opera Reevo translates the mix in an impeccable way, adapting the speaker to complex musical material especially when rich in the midrange region, where separation and clarity can really make a difference in the outcome of any performance. This is granted by the coaxial acoustic design, featuring a front Integrated HF horn with diamond-shaped cutouts with the aim of rendering comb filtering-free high frequency reproduction, and at the same time of improving the upper woofer’s efficiency.

Another phase plug enhances the lower woofer efficiency: this acoustic device greatly improves the transient response and overall behaviour of this transducer. Low noise reflex ports are integrated in the front moulding. The honeycomb structure inside the ports helps reducing wind turbulence caused by the high airflow of this high SPL powerhouse. 

Both models are equipped with a Class-D Digipro G2 amplifier which delivers an impressive 1050W RMS and 2100W Peak power, and features advanced DSP processing where FIR linear phase filters allow the systems to achieve a coherent audio performance, rendering an uniform and crystal-clear sound. Moreover, Opera Reevo offers factory-tailored voicing presets to adapt to multiple scenarios, including when in need of a wedge stage monitor or a completely standalone full-range PA system.

This versatile sound processing works in tandem with a cleverly designed box shape which combines cutting-edge design and ease of use. Opera Reevo can be used as a wedge stage monitor or on a classic speaker stand support. When paired with a subwoofer can be mounted on a 36mm standard pole, and can be also suspended thanks to the integrated 3x M10 threaded eyebolts, making this enclosure a perfect permanent installation complement.

Both cabinets have a very compact size compared to the output SPL of 132.5dB (Reevo 210) and 133 dB (Reevo 212), yet featuring 2x Neodymium woofers (10-inch for Reevo 210 and 12-inch for Reevo 212) and one 1.75-inch coaxial compression driver, keeping the overall weight down to 17.2Kg (Reevo 210) and 20.4Kg (Reevo 212).

When it comes down to business, Opera Reevo outstanding voicing ensures seamless and transparent rendition of any speech, where intelligibility is mission critical (such as corporate events or houses of worship) with a very wide nominal dispersion: 100°x80° (Reevo 212) and 100°x90° (Reevo 210) granting greatly consistent coverage from every listening position.

The VIO W15T is a touring wedge that’s able to keep us with the premium line array series. VIO W15T takes advantage of a coaxial design and is equipped with a neodymium coaxial component with a 15-inch woofer and a three-inch driver. The design of the horn allows a very precise 60° x 80° dispersion pattern with a rotating horn to adapt the wedge to the application needed. VIO W15T is a self powered box equipped with top notch class-D Digipro G4 amplifier delivering 1600W RMS. Available now.

The VIO X206 is the big brother to the X205. X206 is an ultra-compact professional speaker that delivers sound pressure and linear response to the highest level, just like VIO X205, but in addition to this, you can turn it into a true compact line array system. The speaker has been designed in two different versions, one model mounts a 90° by 60° rotatable horn. The other one is equipped with a two-path waveguide conveying a 100° by 15° dispersion, making it perfect for line array applications. The real gem here is that users can remove and exchange horns at any time, based on their requirements.

VIO S115 is a self-powered, flyable, single 15-inch subwoofer, with a standard frontal bass reflex acoustic configuration. Inspired by dBTechnologies popular VIO S118R subwoofer, the S115 has the advantage of being flyable. This is the most compact VIO sub, making it a perfect complement for all VIO X full range series models. The system is loaded with a 15-inch neodymium woofer, driven by a 900W RMS Digipro G3 amp, which allows for complete networkability with all other speakers in VIO family. M10 flying points and M20 pole mounts can be found on the top and side of the box for horizontal and vertical mounting options.
